Graduates from Washington State Community College's Practical Nursing program recently achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Ohio examination to become licensed practical nurses. According to Practical Nursing Program Director Alicia Warren, MSN, RN, all 31 students from the June 2012 day-time class passed the examination called the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on their first try.
Alicia Warren says the Practical Nursing program is designed to help WSCC students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue an entry level position as a licensed practical nurse. "I'm very proud of this group of students, but I am just as proud of my instructors who passionately share their nursing knowledge and experience. I always tell our students 'You will make a difference in people's lives,'" says Warren.
"I am very excited of our practical nursing students," says Dr. Dixie Vaughan, WSCC dean of health sciences, "However, I expect our students to score well. The faculty in the practical nursing program are very well qualified and dedicated to the nursing profession and to the education of student nurses. The practical nursing students are held to very high standards."
