Times Past for Oct. 9

25 years ago

- The new Ohio Tourist Center will open in December. The $2.7 million underground structure will house maps, lists of attractions and tour guides, as well as restrooms and picnic tables. The Center will be on I-77 near Marietta.

- A "Sibling Class" will be held Oct. 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital. The class will teach toddlers about newborns while having them practice feeding, diapering and holding a doll. The class costs $20.

100 years ago

- John Langsdale was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 8, for sending obscene letters to Bessie Eddy. His trial date is set for December in Columbus.

- Congressman James Cox will visit Marietta on Oct. 21 to make a political address. Cox is running as the Democratic candidate for the Governor of Ohio.
