Basket, pottery bingo at Belpre High

Cashland of Belpre will host Longaberger Basket and Pottery Bingo Sunday at Belpre High School.

Doors open at noon and games start at 1 p.m. There will be 20 games for $20 per-sale or $25 at the door. There will also be an early bird ticket drawing, concessions, a country store, door prizes, raffles and a special $5 game. All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Country gospel singer in concert

Country gospel recording artist Ruthie Dunn will be in concert at 6 p.m. Friday at the Harvest Time Church Of God on Ohio 7 in New Matamoras across from the Dairy Bar. The concert is open to the public.

Wildlife programs planned for children

The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will be holding wildlife programs for children at 1 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 20 at the visitor center at 3982 Waverly Road, Williamstown. The program Saturday is a "Fall Nature Collage Hike" to discover how nature changes in the fall while collecting nature items along the trail to create a collage (ages 3 to 13). On Oct. 20 those ages 6 to 15 can come take part in refuge week by celebrating the birds that migrate through the refuge. All programs are free and approximately one to two hours long. Parents or guardians are required to be present. The programs take place outdoors and closed toe shoes are recommended.

Welfare League accepting donations

The Marietta Welfare League is currently accepting requests from area clubs, schools, nonprofit groups and other community organizations for its annual donation distribution. Requests must be in writing and should include information about the applicant organization. Applicants are required to explain who will benefit from the donation and to describe how the money will be used. Applicants are also expected to estimate how many individuals will benefit from requested donations. Funds may be awarded for equipment, special projects, training seminars or programs. Donations cannot be awarded to pay salaries of employees or to maintain the operating costs of an applicant organization. The deadline for requests is Oct. 31.
