From staff reports , The Marietta Times

ALBANY - Marietta High freshman Owen LaBarre scored his first career varsity goal at the 15:49 mark as the ECOL champion Tiger boys blanked Alexander 1-0 Tuesday.

MHS, 9-2-3 overall, outshot the host Spartans (5-4-6) 14-3 but could only find the back of the net on one occasion.

Tiger keeper Eric Pierce had three saves for the Tigers who recorded their sixth clean sheet of the season.

"We are starting to play better," said Marietta head coach Todd Morris. "We're starting to string some passes together and have some build up and play with a purpose.

"Now we just have to finish teams off and put them away. Solid defensive effort tonight and happy for Owen to score his first goal. He is someone who works so hard during training and on the field and it is nice to see his hard work rewarded."

VINCENT - Mackenzie Ullman scored two goals as the Warren girls shut out visiting Athens, 2-1, in non-conference action Tuesday night.

The Lady Warrior booters improved their record to 10-1-3.

Warren caps regular-season play against visiting Logan in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League match at 7 p.m. Thursday.
