- Mayor Nancy Hollister declared Oct. 12 to 17 National Job Skills Week in Marietta. The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of public and private job training.
- The River Harmony Chapter of the national Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus for women will describe the organization and sing two numbers at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 13, at the Washington County Courthouse. Chapters across the country will sing the same numbers at the same time.

- Brady Inghold, a well-known Parkersburg man, died in a fall at the Baldwin Tool Works plant yesterday.
- Thirty-six officers and teachers of the First Methodist Sunday School met and ate together yesterday evening. Reports were made by the department superintendents.
