Ballroom dance night Saturday
River Cities Ballroom Dance Club will host the Sweetest Day Ballroom Dance from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Marietta Country Club. There will be music by the Scott Kitchen Project with appetizers and desserts provided, plus a cash bar. Dress is formal: tuxedos or suits for men and cocktail or long dresses for women. Breakfast benefits sternwheel festival
A pancake breakfast benefiting the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's of Marietta. The cost is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased from a committee member or at the door.
Free meal, clothing giveaway Saturday
A free meal and clothing giveaway will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St., Marietta.
Port authority plans October meetings
The Southeastern Ohio Port Authority will hold meetings this month:
The SeOPA Executive Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Port Authority Office in the Library of Washington State Community College.
The Port Authority's monthly Board of Directors meeting will be held at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday CB&T Building at Washington State.

Marietta Teen Center reunion Saturday
There will be a reunion of the Marietta Teen Center from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Over the Moon Pizzeria, 170 Front St., Marietta. All former board members, chaperones and teen members should RSVP to Kathy Dawson Littleton at 516-7232.
Civil War group going to Antietam
Local Civil War Roundtable members will commemorate those from the local area who fell at the Battle of Antietam Nov. 3-4 with a trip to Antietam Battlefield, Harpers Ferry and Sharpsburg, Md. Tours of the battlefield will be led by local historians Dan Hinton, Scott Britton and William Reynolds. As part of the trip a visit to the National Cemetery is planned and a flag placement on the local graves of those from the 36th OVI will take place. Seats are available for the trip by calling William Reynolds at the Campus Martius Museum at 373-3750.
