The election is drawing nigh and I hear more and more people saying that they are going to "sit this one out" because their "vote doesn't count anyway." Besides, they "don't really like either candidate, so why vote?"
What a load of crap! Every vote counts, if for no other reason than to make sure that we get a new pack of thieves and liars every four years (the lesser of two evils). It always takes a new administration a little time to come up to speed, and we the people save or at least postpone for a little while the uncontrolled, insane spending of our hard earned tax dollars in the process, and quite possibility could see positive changes of less uncontrolled, unjustified government interference, restrictions, taxes, spending and regulations, and executive orders (which circumvent our whole legislative process and balance of power checks and balances) that have huge negative impacts on all our lives, and as things currently stand I feel certain will create more hardships and personal challenges for each of us, and threatens our sacred Constitution & Bill of Rights freedoms and what use to be possible of each of us - "the American Dream" and our right to "Pursuit of Happiness" - if we worked hard, had faith and treated each other with dignity and respect. Not to mention the fact that, any adult who expects someone else to make all their decisions for them and sits around and hopes that everything turns out OK is at best a fool, and at worst a parasite.
Personally, my vote this year isn't going to be based on my "pet" issues or the how the broader issues and political platforms will affect my wife and I; it will be based on what I feel will best limit and hopefully reverse, stop or slow down the direction my country is heading in for the sake of my children and grandchildren, and generations down the line. For me, the present state of affairs and the abysmal lack of integrity, honesty and competence in Washington are intolerable.
Remember to get out and vote.
Like Yoda said, "There is no try, there is only do."
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got; and you have no one to blame but yourself. Thank you.
