Tri-State recognized for workplace safety

Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company's Parkersburg office was recently recognized for its excellence in safety in the workplace, completing four consecutive years without a recordable lost time injury. During this period, the company logged over 500,000 injury-free work hours.

Tri-State attributes the milestone to its workmen's commitment to safety excellence and its "Working Safe" program that includes regular safety meetings, ongoing safety training, certification, and evaluation.

Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, a full-service commercial and industrial roofing, sheet metal, heating, ventilation and air conditioning business, supplies area businesses, industrial plants, and institutions with on-site and on-call services. The company will mark its 90th anniversary in 2013.

Stonewall, Cambridge VCB ad campaign among Ohio's best

Stonewall Marketing recently earned a first place RUBY Award for its work on the 2012 Cambridge/Guernsey County VCB print advertising campaign.

The 2012 Ruby Awards were presented at the Ohio Travel Association's annual conference on tourism in Columbus, Ohio, Oct. 11. Now in their 15th year, the Ruby Awards, which "Recognize Uncommon Brilliance," honor the most innovative examples of marketing by Ohio tourism entities. Entries were judged based on impact, relevance, clarity, creativity and overall communication of the organization's message.

The 2012 ad campaign was designed to resemble the look and feel of a lifestyle magazine, popular among the demographic of visitors to the area.

"This award affirms the hard work the VCB and our staff have worked to successfully create. We're thrilled to receive this nod from the industry," said Kari Thompson, Stonewall Marketing's director of public relations.

The award-winning print ads have appeared in magazines including Ohio Magazine, Long Weekends, Discover Ohio and Midwest Living.

Founded in 1976, the Ohio Travel Association is the largest travel and tourism trade association in Ohio. OTA's nearly 700 members include hotels, restaurants, attractions, convention and visitors bureaus and tour companies.

Automaker BMW to build plant in Brazil

SAO PAULO - Officials say German automaker BMW AG will build a factory in southern Brazil.

Santa Catarina state Gov. Raimundo Colombo says BMW will invest approximately 1 billion reals ($500 million) to build the plant.

Colombo tells the state government's website he will meet with President Dilma Rousseff on Monday "to explain details of the investment."

The web site says BMW will produce medium-sized sedans, the first of which will off the assembly line in about two years.
