The Marietta firefighters endorse the Washington County Children Services levy on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
The union examined the issues thoroughly before deciding to support its passage. The union has a long-standing position supporting services for abused and neglected children. With Washington County Children Services revenues from federal, state and local government shrinking fast, the union recognized that the property tax is one of the only options to ensure adequate funding for such critical services.
It is important for voters to understand that it will cost homeowners 45 cents per $1,000 their home is appraised and for seniors with a homestead exemption, it will cost 41 cents for every $1,000 their home is appraised.
Washington County Children Services task in providing protective services to abused and neglected children is daunting and demanding ... 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These children deserve our help.
Please join us, the Marietta Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 442, in voting yes on Nov. 6 in the general election
