Pit Stop for senior citizens is Saturday

A "Senior Wheels Pit Stop" will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Washington State Community College in the lower parking area. The event includes: checking fluid levels and topping off if needed, tire pressure and wear, belts and hoses, battery check, headlights, brake lights, turn signals and marker lights. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served.

Wildlife refuge to hold kids programs

The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a program for children at 2 p.m. Sunday that includes coming to Middle Island for an adventure including crafts, activitiesand a hayride around the island. Middle Island is located in St. Mary's, W.Va. via George Street. The program is recommended for those ages 5 to 14 and will begin across the bridge at the buildings one mile down the gravel road on the right. The program is free and approximately one to two hours long. Parents or guardians are required to be present. In the event of bad weather the program will be canceled. Frontier class hosts jewelry fundraiser

The Frontier High School class of 2014 is hosting an online "Jewelry for Juniors" party featuring Silpada jewelry. Orders will be submitted when the fundraiser closes on Tuesday and will arrive in time for holiday gift-giving. Orders may be placed through www.mysilpada.com/kimberly.fulkerson and choosing "Junior Class" as hostess. For those without Internet access, please contact any member of the junior class.

Dems to hold annual dinner Friday

The Washington County Democratic Party will hold its annual fall dinner Friday at the American Legion, Eighth and Wooster streets, Marietta. The keynote speaker will be Sen. Mike Skindell, candidate for Ohio Supreme Court Justice. Other candidates will also speak. The cost is $25. For reservations call Louise Gwinn, 373-7715, or Donna Malcolm, 585-2042.

Church to host soup bean dinner

Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave., will have a soup bean and cornbread dinner with dessert and drink for $5 and hot dogs for $1 from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
