Douglas and Susan (Boersma) Carder of Crooksville celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21. They were married on Saturday, Oct. 21, 1972, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marietta.
Together they raised five children: Elizabeth (Josh) Caton, Timothy (Jen), Theresa (Gabriel) Martinez, Dorothy, and Douglas. They have 12 grandchildren: Violet, Drew, Lainey, Craig, and Susanna Caton; Sophie and Sasha Carder; and Joaquin, Mikey, Mary Elizabeth, Joseph, and Xavier Martinez.
He is a math teacher at Crooksville High School where he also coaches cross-country, and she is an X-ray technician for Genesis Healthcare System.
