James Franklin Gossett, 91, of Capron, Ill., died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, (Oct. 30, 2012). Born Aug. 19, 1921, in Watertown, Ohio, son of Henry F. and Mary E. (Hutzel) Gossett. Married Ann Spasojevich on Nov. 2, 1946, in Beverly, Ohio. He served in the US Army from August 1942 to Feb. 1946 during WWII in the Army anti-aircraft 379 Battalion automatic weapons Battery D. He worked for Arlington Heights Park District as a maintenance engineer for over 15 years. He was a former Mason and Moose member. His hobby was his game bird hobby farm.
Survivors include his daughters Sandy (Michael) Ferguson and JoAnn (Stuart) Arnold both of Poplar Grove; grandchildren, Robert Mason III, Morgan and Kenneth Richter, and Michelle Ferguson; brother-in-law. Al Spasojevich; and nieces, Betty Jean Palmer of Stockton, Ohio, and Kaye Stengel of Beverly. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Ann; grandson, DJ Richter; brother, Lester; and sister, Violet Jean Gant.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday (Nov. 3, 2012) in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere 61008 with the Rev. Paul Simmonds, pastor at River Chapel Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service.
