As a taxpayer and citizen of Washington County, I have great interest in who our elected officials are. As a former employee of the Washington County commissioners' Office, I believe I have some insight into what makes a good commissioner. I am voting for David White. I truly believe he has what it takes to be an effective Commissioner, and I ask that you, too, vote for him.
The commissioners are given the task of overseeing the budget of the county and making decisions that affect those who live here. It is important that commissioners have business know-how, including the ability to operate within a budget. As a small business owner, David White has that understanding. As a fiscal conservative, he will be a good steward of the tax dollars he is entrusted with.
A good commissioner must understand that he or she is a public servant and works FOR the people, not vice-versa. David White believes that government that governs best, governs least. Decisions must be based upon what is best for the citizens of Washington County while operating under the rule of law. Fairness is a must. A big ego does not serve the people well. David White is a humble man who served as a Marietta City councilman and has the experience of working with others to get the job done. He has the people skills needed to deal with constituents as well as other Commissioners, county officials, and employees. He is a good Christian man with strong moral values and an impeccable work ethic, and will listen to other opinions rather than have a "my way or the highway" approach.
A good commission has integrity. We can trust that if David White says something, he means it. He will not be a politician who says whatever the audience at the time wants to hear, but whose actions speak otherwise.
As an Army veteran, David White served his country well. I have no doubt he will also serve well the people of Washington County and give 110% to whatever the task is at hand. We have a great opportunity to elect a man of the people on Nov. 6. Please join me in voting for David White for Washington County Commissioner!
