- Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5018 will be selling poppies on Nov. 7. All proceeds will benefit disabled and needy veterans, and the widows and orphans of veterans. The theme for this year's drive is "Honor the Dead by Helping the Living."
- Members of five area fire departments helped battle a fire at Snider's, an auto parts store, and two mobile homes on Washington Boulevard in Belpre.
100 years ago
- Wood County passed a prohibition amendment by 1,225 votes, making the county "dry."
- "The Girl in the Taxi" will be performed at the Auditorium Nov. 8. The play has been met by many laughs and delight at previous shows, which include New York City.
