Even a 1-9 football team has its standouts.
Recently, Marietta High had three players named to the All-East Central Ohio League (ECOL) teams - Kyle Bronski, Tanner Leach, and Eddie Kimbrough.
Bronski was honored as a first-team selection. This past fall, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound junior linebacker had 48 solo and 60 assisted tackles for a total of 108.

Of Bronski's tackles, 8.5 were for a loss. He was also credited with 4.5 sacks.
Helping with the placekicking, he was four of five on points after touchdowns.
"Kyle missed most of his sophomore season due to injury," said first-year MHS head football coach Adam Eichhorn. "He worked hard to get back in shape during the offseason and really stepped up big for us this fall. "Kyle becamsse a student of the game this year and that allowed him to play at such a high level. He understands our defense and was our coach on the field."
Bronski is expected to return next season.
Leach, an MHS senior, was honored as an all-league second-team defensive lineman. At 6-2, 235 pounds, he was credited with 28 solo and 29 assisted tackles for a total of 57.
Of his hits, 17.5 were for a loss. He also had three sacks, one forced fumble and one blocked kick.
"Tanner put up some huge numbers for us this year from the defensive line," Eichhorn said. "He worked extremely hard to get to the level he is at, and his stats show it.
"He anchored our defensive line as an end, and forced a lot of teams to run the ball away from him."
Making All-ECOL honorable mention on the defensive line was Kimbrough. The 6-foot, 246-pound senior had an abbreviated campaign, and missed the last three Tiger games due to an injury.
He also was sidelined half of last season because of injury. Even so, Kimbrough stood out. At his position this past fall, he had 26 solo and 26 assisted tackles for a total of 52. Of his hits, 15.5 were for a loss,
He also had five sacks, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick.
"It would be hard to find a more athletic defensive tackle than Eddie," Eichhorn said. "He was a game changer for us on defense. He made a lot of plays that you don't see made at the high school level."
