Billy Lee Frye Sr., 75, of Front Street, Marietta, died at Harmar Place on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) at 2:45 p.m.
He was born at Nibert, W.Va., in Logan County to the late Albert and Lona Mullins Frye on Thursday May 20, 1937. Billy graduated from high school and joined the U.S.Army on July 21, 1959, and served two tours of duty being Honorably discharged on July 23, 1963. He then moved to Marietta, to work for Dravo Corp and later Kardex as a Draftsman for over 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #64, Loyal Order of Moose #1823 and Loyal Order of Eagles until they closed in Marietta.
Billy is survived by Margaret "Peggy" Karcher of Front Street Marietta, and one daughter Jennifer Sue Tipi of Belpre; stepdaughter, Cindy Shutts of St. Louis, Mo.; stepson, Ricky Shutts of Lancaster; and one brother, Frank Frye of Claire, Ala. There are three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Lee Frye Jr.; three sisters, Eula Mae Rogers, Ruby Carter, Shirley Ann Frye; five brothers, Elmer, Virgil, Wilbur, Dennie and Don Frye.
Funeral services will be held Saturday (Nov. 10, 2012) at 1 p.m. at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel with burial in Highland Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #64 and V.F.W. Post #5108.
Friends may call at the Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services at 1 p.m.
