- Taxpayers spent more than $3,000 to host the Ku Klux Klan rallies in Marietta and Belpre. $1,512 of that went to pay police officers from two other counties. Belpre officials are looking at ways to make groups responsible for the expense, while Marietta Mayor Nancy Hollister said she'd like to prevent radical groups from coming to the city altogether.

- The Washington County chapter of the Red Cross requested the donation of baby and children's clothes, blankets and sweaters.

- John F. Hamilton, who committed a large number of forgeries, will be extradited back to Marietta for trial. The forgeries amount to thousands of dollars.

- The 3-year-old son of Mrs. William Spack was reportedly burned to death after accidentally getting kerosene on his clothing and walking too close to the fire. Mrs. Spack was taken into police custody. Police are investigating whether or not the boy was intentionally burned.
