Strategy to limit Obama to 1 term let the nation down

November 13, 2012
The Marietta Times

The Republican leadership in the U.S. Congress has had a very narrow agenda the past four years, beginning with a secret meeting the very night that President Barack Obama was inaugurated in 2009. Their strategy was to make sure President Obama was a "one term president" no matter what the consequences to the American people. But their strategy was terribly flawed and while attempting and failing to take the president down they let the American people down.

While millions of Americans were hurting, and while our country's infrastructure was crumbling and our schools were deteriorating, the republican leadership in Washington thought it more important to refuse to work with President Obama. They knew if the American people were to see him as a successful leader, it could certainly ruin their plans for the 2012 election.

Obviously, the majority of voters in this great country gets it. They know who has their back and who, for the past four years, has worked to keep them safe and get our country back on track after inheriting the worst economic crisis since the great depression.

Much to the dismay of the Republican leaders, whose priority it was to work against the president every day for the past four years and who short changed the people of this great nation, President Obama will go down in history as a "two term president".

Time will tell if the Republican leadership will step up and represent the people in doing the job they were elected to do or continue to conduct themselves shamelessly while the rest of the country joins with President Obama in moving our nation forward.
