The last of the detour signs were removed and Muskingum Drive finally opened to drivers. Traffic levels were nearly at the level before the closure in May.

Local Ohio State Buckeye fans reacted with anger to the premature firing of Ohio State's football coach, Earle Bruce. While local fans weren't necessarily fans of Bruce, the consensus was that Ohio State should have let him finish his three-year contract.

A local construction company made plans to build a 15-home subdivision on Eighth Street in Williamstown. The project is projected to add $1.17 million to the tax base of the city.

Two buses have been chartered to take local residents to the Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington D.C. The tree was provided by the Wayne National Forest.
