Edgar and Hazel Smithberger of Lower Salem Route will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22.
They were married at St. Henry's Church in Harriettsville, Ohio, on Nov. 22, 1952, by the Rev. M.A. McNicholas.
He is the son of the late Alex and Leona Wallace Smithberger.
She is the daughter of the late James and Ollie Doan Schafer.
They have four sons: Raymond Sr. (Connie) Smithberger of Graysville, Ohio, James Sr. (Lynne) Smithberger of Lower Salem Route, John David Smithberger Sr. of Marietta, and Michael (Debbie) Smithberger of Canyon, Texas.
They have 11 living grandchildren and one deceased; three step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six step-gr eat-grandchildren.
He worked at Marietta Concrete for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed farming and going to livestock auctions.
She has been involved with the Catholic Women's Club on Steubenville Diocese, Visitation Deanery and St. Henry's Women's Club. She enjoys quilting at the church hall.
