Yes, the morning after our epochal presidential election. No, it didn't turn out the way I had hoped, but that is par for the course in politics - you win some and you lose some. It was an incredible campaign and election - incredible in so many ways. Incredible to think a man with so many serious negatives could win a presidential race. Conventional wisdom, all political machinations aside and considering all the negatives he had accumulated, would have figured Obama would merit maybe 10 percent of the vote. But he won handily, so view the following and go figure.
1. His positions on moral issues, e.g. murder of the unborn (abortion), same sex marriage, contraception mandate. All of these he has openly and strongly supported. What happened to the Catholic and evangelical vote and outrage relative to these issues?
2. His unwillingness to allow the development of our own energy resources on federal lands and off shore. Funneling money to Brazil so they can develop their energy resources was fine with him.
3. Class warfare, i.e. dividing the country politically into classes, polarization some would call it, and leading the unwary to believe it is somehow unpatriotic to be successful and wealthy and therefore the wealthy need to pay a dis-proportate amount of taxes.
4. By spending our tax dollars on ill-advised so-called stimulus projects (most which have failed and all the billions of dollars invested lost), leading to a $6 trillion increase in our national debt. Nice legacy we are leaving for our children and grand children, right?
5. A welfare program that encouraged dependency upon the government, e.g. 40 million people on food stamps, and over half the population on some form of welfare. Like a pundit said recently "People don't vote against Santa Claus." And they didn't this time around. Move over Greece, here we come to join you!
6. A worldview that is fundamentally different morally, politically, and economically from a Judeo-Christian worldview. To be brutally honest his ideological mindset is a kissing cousin to European style socialism or progressivism. Good-bye to our free market capitalist economic system.
7. Of maybe a deeper concern is his flat out lying (for two weeks) to the American people by him and his surrogates about the disaster in Benghazi. I deeply respect the Office of the President of the United States, but not so much it's current occupant. I wish I could, but the "heart cannot embrace what the mind rejects." I'll continue to pray for Obama, but not with as much "faith believing" in his integrity and competence as I should have.
