There have been recent letters chastising the protestors at the "Nuns on the Bus" rally. I was there, and the noise that I heard were of those signing hymns, and praying aloud the rosary and prayers for the protection of religious freedoms in our country. Most Catholics who were present do not respect, and actually look with disdain upon anyone who, while using the backdrop of their religion, advocates activities and programs which are diabolically opposed to the tenets of Catholicism.
The nuns were very disingenuous for three reasons: 1. They stated that they were nonpartisan, however their organizer, Sr. Simone Campbell, was a major speaker at the Democratic National Convention. They are traveling around the country in a luxurious gas-guzzling bus, paid for by the Center for American Progress (CAP), which is financed by the far leftist George Soros.
2. The Sisters also say they are 100 percent pro-life ... I wonder how they feel about the three million lives that were aborted by tax funded Planned Parenthood? Do they know that President Obama, while he was in the Illinois legislature voted in favor of that heinous procedure of partial birth abortion? He also voted to withhold medical care from an infant who happened to be born alive after a botched abortion. Is he the one they want to oversee the nation's health care?
3. They claim to be advocates of the poor, and voice their opposition of the Ryan budget. Yet after the present administration spent $10 trillion, we have a 46 percent increase in the use of food stamps, a big swell in unemployment and the number of people in poverty. Where, oh where, did all that money go? In Marietta, it is the tireless efforts of its good people who are helping the poor. Numerous religious and civic organizations and area churches have been providing meals, food, financial help, clothing, and medical care to those in need.
These nuns must be pitied. They are either misguided rebels of the church grabbing a spotlight to air their grievances, or too ignorant to realize that they are being used as pawns by the far lefties and socialists among us to advance their own warped ideologies, and hinder our religious freedoms.
