Rich shoats: George Soros came to this country selling sandwiches with his wife on the streets of New York City. Larry Ellison (No. 3 on Forbes 400) was an illegitimate son given up for adoption, Steve Jobs had a similar lot. Bill Gates, drop out. Warren Buffett, Paul Allen, Charles Koch, Sam Walton, Sergey Brin we don't need them.
They are all 1/10 of the top 1 percent of American richest capitalists, let's do away with them, shall we? We don't need their Windows, their Coke, Dairy Queen, Apple, BNSF Railroad to haul our coal, cheap stuff at Wal-Mart, their software, asphalt, concrete, their investments, their risks, the employment they create or their drive.
In truth they give away billions each year. Pay billions in taxes each year. They have created things we all use each day and have made our lives easier because of it. We are all part of their 'economic family tree' and they employ hundreds of thousands of us. If you don't like them then don't help them in their success. Don't envy them or chide them for their achievements. If you want to revolt against them then rid of your computer, stop Googling, don't drive, don't eat it unless you grew it, quit drinking organic lattes, blow up your TV, throw away your paper, move to Walden Pond and definitely don't read this!
Actually we need them more than we care to admit. They are assailed for their success at most every turn. Most of them started from absolutely nothing and a few, very few, were born with it. If we are all lucky, maybe just maybe your daughter will be the next one of them. Maybe if we keep this horrible capitalist system you will read her name on the top 50 Richest People list.
You will hear that their tax rate is lower than the rest of us but in truth they pay way more as a percentage of their overall income each year than any of us. If we only knew how much they paid in sales tax each year for their large expenses. Property taxes on their numerous large homes I am sure is staggering. We only here about their individual tax rates but never about how much their business pay in taxes each year. Maybe Uncle Warren has a low individual rate but can you imagine how many billions in corporate taxes Berkshire Hathaway pays every year. Apple, Microsoft, Oracle and Dell more billions paid in taxes each year. Our problem is that we don't have enough of them. We need ten times as many of them and we need them now for our financial way of life to continue and freedom, as we have known it, to continue.
To take a spin on William Jennings Bryan.. "Get rid of your capitalists and keep your government bureaucracies and the weeds will grow in every street in America. But leave your capitalists and get rid of the government and freedom will spring up again as if magic." Lets grow some more of these little capitalist piggies, shall we?
