club to host event
River Cities Ballroom Dance Club will host a holiday ballroom dance from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Marietta Country Club. There will be music by the Gary Stewart Quintet with appetizers and desserts provided, plus a cash bar. Dress is formal; tuxedos or suits for men and cocktail or long dresses for women. Lunch at the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department will be offered through Saturday. Soup, sandwiches, desserts and beverages will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Relay for Life team sponsors craft show
The Belpre Cancer Blasters, a Relay for Life team, is sponsoring a craft show at he Belpre Lions Club on Murray Street in Belpre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be vendors, crafters, a country store, a bake sale and concessions. All proceeds will go the Relay for Life walk in the spring.
Harmar Hill Crime Watch plans party
The Harmar Hill Neighborhood Crime Watch will hold its annual Christmas Party at 7 p.m. Monday in the former Fairview School Gym at the corner of Alta and Coventry streets. Santa will visit. There will be door prizes and refreshments. Area residents are invited.
Used book sale
at Barlow library
A used book sale will be held at the Barlow Library from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will also be crafters from Christmas in the Village.

Dinner a benefit for Sandy's responders
The Devola Volunteer Fire Company will hold a pasta dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday to raise money for first responders on the East Coast where there was damage from Superstorm Sandy. Monetary donations will be accepted for the admission to the dinner, which will include pasta, garlic bread, drinks and dessert. There will also be 50/50 raffles.

Municipal court
dedication Friday
Dedication ceremonies for the new Marietta Municipal Court are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday on the corner of Third and Butler streets. The dedication event will be followed by public tours of the facilities until 5 p.m.
