YMCA plans 'Winter Classic' hoops
The Marietta Family YMCA will hold its "Winter Classic" a 3-on-3 adult basketball double elimination tournament from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at a cost of $50 per team. Each team will be allowed to have a maximum of four players. The games will be played in a half court setting. The brackets and rules will be sent out a week before tournament time.
Beverly Masonic Lodge luncheon
The Beverly Masonic Lodge will hold an all-you-can-eat soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. There will be four kinds of soup, sandwiches and dessert. Donations will be accepted. Carryout and delivery will be available by calling 984-2826.
Dinner and concert at O'Neill Center
The O'Neill Center in Marietta will hold an evening dinner/concert featuring Curtis Chamberlain performing on the saxophone and vocals at 6 p.m. Friday. Reservations should be made by Wednesday. Chamberlain is a professional musician performing big band-style music. Christmas favorites will be featured along with many hits from the 1930s and 40s. Emeritus of Marietta is a sponsor of the concert and the desserts will be prepared by their chef on site. A full turkey dinner will be served and catered by Special Occasions Catering. Dinner/concert tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at the O'Neill Center office.

Fearing Twp. VFD dinner a benefit
The Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a dinner and other activities Saturday to benefit Becky Moore and family, who lost their home as a result of a fire. A chicken and ham dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. at the firehouse at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple, followed by a square dance at 8 p.m. with music by The Buckeye Travelers. A country store will also be held during the evening.
Devola Santa Parade, food drive
The Devola Volunteer Fire Company's annual Santa Parade and canned food drive will begin at noon Sunday at the Pit Stop on Ohio 821. The parade will proceed through the main streets of Devola. People may donate canned goods for local pantries during the parade or drop them off at the firehouse anytime. Children can come out to see Santa until 2 p.m.
