PARKERSBURG - With the Ironman coming up on Friday, the Parkersburg South wrestling team of first-year head coach Donna Dixon looked more than solid in the Patriots' tuneup here Wednesday evening inside the Rod Oldham Athletic Center.
The four-time defending Class AAA state champion Patriots rolled to a 69-7 victory against Fairmont Senior and then trumped Belpre, 68-12.
In all, 11 Patriot grapplers finished the triangular with 2-0 marks and a half dozen of them produced two pins apiece and that included 170-pounder Drake Mills, who had the fastest mat slapper of the night when he stuck Fairmont Senior's Kyle Evans in 12 seconds. Fellow PSHS teammates Colten Nangle (113), Tyler Richards (138), Chip Sturek (152), Briar Shively (160) and heavyweight Dane Mills also registered two pins each.

Belpre’s Zach Davis, right, has Fairmont Senior’s Philip Mayers in a pinning hold as ref Mike Miller watches during a 126-pound bout at Parkersburg South Wednesday. Davis scored the pin in 1:53.
Braidon Knotts (120), Codi Dornick (126), Kyle Knotts (132), Riley Wines (182) and 195-pounder Matt Dixon also won two matches apiece for the hosts.
Fairmont Senior, which rallied past Belpre 40-27 in the other match, got 2-0 efforts from 145-pounder Anthony Alvaro and 220-pounder Vincent Delligatti. Alvaro, who finished fifth in the state last year at 132, scored an 11-6 decision versus Patriot Stewart Morris and picked up a 16-0 technical fall against Golden Eagle Robby Postlewaite. Delligatti, a state qualifier at 220 last winter, earned a 16-7 major decision in his battle with Parkersburg South's Stoney Nolan, then got his winning takedown late in the second period en route to a 6-5 win against Belpre's Jamie Barrett.
Belpre head coach Scott Adams' squad, which returns to action at 6 p.m. next Wednesday with Caldwell in a triangular at Williamstown, didn't have anyone record two wins. Barrett, who won his other match via a first period pin of Nolan, came the closest. Aside from Barrett, the only other Golden Eagle triumph against the Patriots came from 106-pounder Gavin Stalnaker, who recorded a second period mat slapper against Hunter Cline.

Parkersburg South, which wrestled without defending 106-pound state champion Lance Hill, finished with 17 pins.
Dixon had the toughest win for the hosts when he used a reversal 20 seconds into the third period to garner a 2-0 decision against Polar Bear Jaron Summers.
