- The Marietta City Board of Education will meet Monday, Dec. 14, to discuss renewing George Kingsmore's contract as superintendent.
- The Marietta Chorale will present its annual holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 13, in the First Congregational Church on Front Street. Refreshments will be served afterward in the church social room.

- The suit of Ella Carpenter against the Stevens Organ & Piano Company for $10,000 in the death of her son began. Carpenter is suing because, allegedly, as her son was playing near a fire, he picked up a can that had been thrown out by the company and it exploded, burning him to death.
- One of the largest oil deals in the area was closed after Charles H. Vaughn disposed of his holding one mile from Whipple to A.A. Schnaufer and associates for more than $40,000.
