Legion thanks Beverly community for support

December 13, 2012
The Marietta Times

In early October, the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 389 in Beverly held their 9th Annual Poker Run. Although the weather wasn't picture perfect his year we still had 145 people sign up and ride through Washington, Noble and Morgan counties covering approximately 114 miles.

Proceeds from the run will be used toward our Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program and other auxiliary projects. Our auxiliary held their first of three distributions of the school year during the last week in October. A combined total of 676 kids from Waterford Elementary, Beverly-Center Elementary and St. John's schools in grades K-6 each received a book. For some children these RIF books may be the only books they can truly call their own. Thanks again to those who participated in this event.

We would also like to thank the following businesses and individuals who donated door prizes or raffle items: American Electric Power, Amy's Flower Shoppe, Annie Smith, B & W Pharmacy, Carol Andy & Diane Wainwright, Dietz, Futrell & Walters Insurance, EnerFab Inc., Eye Car Associations, First Impressions, Juanita Henniger, Jukebox Pizza, Larry Lang Excavating, Legion Post 389, Mollie Zimmer, Muskingum Lube & Detail, Muskingum River Boat Doc, Muskingum Valley Hardware, My Favorite Things, Par Mar, Skinner Firestone, Sponey's IGA/Ace Hardware, Starfire, Stollar Auto, Subway, T & K Auto, Thad Tucker, The Corner Store, The River Queen Restaurant, The Rock Box, The Shelly Co., Turner's 1 Stop Shop, Two Peas in a Pod, Unique Gifts & Flowers, Wainwright's Jewelry, and Waterford Bank. We apologize if we have omitted anyone from our list.
