CAMBRIDGE - The Marietta Tigers are continuing to improve, but couldn't quite do enough Tuesday night to get a win, as they fell to Cambridge 52-40.
The Tigers held a 24-22 lead at halftime and were tied 36-36 going into the fourth quarter, but Cambridge pulled away in the final frame by outscoring Marietta 16-4.
Marietta shot 39 percent (15-for-38) from the floor, including 6-of-13 from beyond the arch. Unfortunately for the J.D. Secrest-led squad, the Bobcats one-upped them by shooting 44 percent (17-for-39).
Cambridge held the advantage on the boards, grabbing 27 rebounds to Marietta's 23 and also won the turnover battle 16-11.
Kyle Ritz was a thorn in the Tigers' side all night, scoring 23 points and hitting on 10-of-11 from the foul line.
Marietta was led by Adam McKnight, who hit three tri-fectas for a total of 11 points. Billy Weekly and Corey Hill each chipped in with eight points apiece. Hill also led the Tigers in rebounding with five boards. Jordan Satterfield had a game-high four assists.
