Marietta City School athletic and music programs are expected to be eliminated and Fairview Elementary is expected to close next year after a nearly $805,000 budget cut.
The oil slick from Pittsburgh is expected to be in the area Dec. 7. Water samples will be taken from the Ohio River to determine the concentration of oil in it.

While hospital fees around the country rose 16 percent last year, Marietta Memorial and Selby fees were below that average.
A special bridal section will appear in The Times on Feb. 4. The section will be for couples announcing either engagements or weddings.

The mail route for rural delivery route No. 1 has been extended with some help from the postmaster and Congressman George White.
