Edna Kathryn Thomas, 75, of Reno, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
Edna was born Thursday, Nov. 18, 1937, in Williams-town, to the late Alpheus Frank and Helen Colville Grow Lane. Edna worked in banking as a bookkeeper for many years and served as the Lawrence Township clerk. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly, as well as housekeeping and cooking. She was a member of Lawrence Baptist Church.
Edna is survived by her husband, John Homer Thomas Jr.; sons, John H. Thomas III (Janell) of Reno and Matthew O. Thomas (Carolina) of Belpre; grandchildren, Cassandra Warner, Heather Warner, Mercedes Trescott, Jacob Thomas, Gage Thomas, and Marcus Thomas; great-grandchild, Hunter Warner; sister, Joan Huffman of Leon, W.Va.; brother, Glen "Bill" Lane (Cindy) of California; brother-in-law, Harold Thomas (Joan) of Massachusetts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Stewart Lane, David Lane, Alpheus Lane Jr.; sisters, Mary VanDyke, Betty Brookmeier; and sister-in-law Ellen Vorndran.
Funeral services will be held Monday (Jan. 14, 2013) at 11 a.m., at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., with the Rev. Marvin Haught officiating. Burial to follow in Rake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
