- Eric Hickerson, a Waterford High School senior, will get to sing at the California Rose parade in Pasadena, Calif.
- Marietta Memorial Hospital and Marietta College worked out a deal: people who donate blood at the hospital in the next two weeks will receive $50 off the tuition for continuing education courses.

- River levels are falling slowly after a crest of 41 feet, four inches. The slow fall is attributed to rain that fell through the night.
- Eph Johnson waded through waist deep water to get to the stable of the Marietta Transfer Co., where he rescued many horses from the high water.
