Prep boys basketball: Tigers down Redskins

COSHOCTON - The Marietta Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 62-50 victory over Coshocton Friday night.

With the win, the J.D. Secrest-coached Tigers improved to 6-8 overall and 2-7 in the East Central Ohio League.

With the game tied at 22-22 at halftime, the J.D. Secrest-led Tigers used a 18-8 third quarter to pull away from Coshocton.

Senior Cameron Benson and sophomore Corey Hill each led all scorers with 14 points apiece. Junior Adam McKnight was close behind with 13 markers while junior Braden Riley also hit double-digits with 10.

Coshocton, now 5-8 overall and 3-5 in the ECOL, was led by Tanner Cognion's 15 points.

Marietta is right back in action Saturday against Lakewood at West Muskingum High at 1:30 p.m.

South Gallia 55, Waterford 50

The Waterford Wildcats dropped a tough 55-50 decision to TVC foe South Gallia Friday night.

South Gallia held a 6-3 lead after both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams picked up by scoring 15 points, giving the Rebels a 21-18 halftime advantage.

From there, South Gallia was able to do just enough to earn the victory.

South Gallia's Brayden Greer led everyone with 21 points, while Austin Shriver paced the Wildcats with 18. No other Waterford player reached double-digits.
