The Warren Warriors keep on rolling as the Blane Maddox-coached squad defeated a tough Newark Catholic team 55-52 in the Route 40 Classic Monday at West Muskingum High School.
Warren trailed by four points going into the final quarter and Newark Catholic maintained that lead in the final minutes of the game, but the Warriors were able to get crucial steals and make big shots when they need to to come away with the win.
Newark Catholic missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer off the back iron to seal the deal.
Shutting down Warren's Evan French was the focal point of Newark Catholic's defensive gameplan, as the junior was held to five points.
However, junior Reece Patton and sophomore Michael Hall were there to pick up the slack. Patton led the Warriors with 23 points while Hall added 14. Catholic's David Meurer had a game-high 24 markers.
With the victory, Warren is now 13-1 heading into Friday night's SEOAL contest against Portsmouth. Newark Catholic fell to 10-3 with the loss.
