25 years ago

- Donald Bowman, of Ironton, suffered third degree burns when the crane he was in touched an electric wire. The crane, which was being used in the street widening project at Seventh and Glendale streets, touched the electric wire as it lowered a steel trestle into a construction pit near the YMCA.

- On Friday, Feb. 19, Boaz, W.Va, residents will celebrate the development of a wastewater treatment plant. Even though the site has already been started, Gov. Arch Moore will stage a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m.

100 years ago

- The ordinance regarding the closing of pool rooms at 10 p.m. takes effect tonight. Pool rooms will be open until 11 p.m. on Saturdays.

- Sergeant Wendelken was injured when the gate he was leaning against at the back of his grocery store gave way and he fell 18 feet.
