Jessie Mae (Hewitt) Britton, 86, passed away on Friday (Feb. 22, 2013) in Marietta, Ohio.
Jessie was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Eglon, W.Va., the daughter of the late Roy Ercil and Audra (Duckworth) Hewitt. She grew up in Hazelton, W.Va., and together with her brother and sister, was raised by her aunt and uncle, Walter and Grace VanSickle.
Jessie was a loving wife of the late Hugh Lamar Britton for 53 years. She is survived by her sister, Elsie O'Dell of Marietta; six daughters and spouses, Linda Kay and Benny Denton of Westville, Okla., Mary Ellen and Rickie Good of Stanley, Va., Pamela Sue and Patrick McGreevy of Buckeye, Ariz., Dottie Lou and Wayne Norris of Underhill, Vt., Robin Lynn and David Gosnell of Joppa, Md., and Anita Grace Britton of Marietta; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. Jessie is survived by her special friend she called her "seventh" daughter, June Haught of Tunnelton.
Family and friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St., Kingwood, W.Va., on Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2013) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2013) in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery, Brandonville, W.Va.
