Mayor Leach asked the Williamstown city council to OK adding a municipal fee onto every home in the city. The $60 fee will be used to help pay bills and meet payroll for the rest of the year.
A small group of Marietta residents is expected to meet with the city schools academic booster club. The meeting is to help organize a group that will fund academic clubs and activities that are set to lose funding at the end of the school year.

New street signs were put up on Matthew Street to help settle the long-time dispute over the correct spelling of the name. However, the agreed-upon spelling for the street ("Matthew") didn't end up on the signs, which say, "Matthews."
Members of the Washington County Emergency Medical Services, Inc. are teaming up with Broughton Foods Co. to provide the annual ice cream social at the Washington County Fairgrounds in July. Profits will benefit each of the county's volunteer squads, as well as Marietta and Williamstown squads.
100 years ago
E.E. Finch, of the American Hay and Grain Association, was injured when his horse became frightened and dashed down the street, eventually striking an automobile.
Two girls were attacked and robbed over the weekend while enroute to their homes. The robbery is under investigation.
