David T. Kaneff, 84, of Marietta, went home to be with the Lord and the love of his life at 7 p.m. on Friday (March 1, 2013) at Harmar Place. He was born on March 25, 1928, in Marietta, to David C. and Mildred A. Fordam Kaneff.
Dave had been employed at Remington Rand Corp. In 1952, he joined his father in the Kaneff Nursery Landscaping and Excavating. His most prized customer was Loretta Lynn who purchased Norway Spruce Trees from him. In earlier years he was involved with snow removal in Marietta. After his retirement in 1986, he enjoyed camping and woodworking. He was a member of Faith Bible Church.
On May 7, 1950, he married Bobbie Eagleson, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2011.
He is survived by four daughters, Sherry (Bill) Rhodes of Perrysburg, Ohio, Peggy (Clyde) Hall of Marietta, Robi (Jerry) Bonnette of Marietta, Kim (Scott) Howard of Marietta; grandchildren, Christina, Kerri, Michael, Doug, Steve, Brian, Craig, Jason, Doug, Jeff, Matt, Wyatt, Tobi, Jessica, Katie; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Savannah, Haylee, Bailey, Britan, Blake, Melanie, Vance, Blake, Railyn, Danielle, Mason, Emily, Tyler, Julia, Dylan, Emma, Grace, Hannah, Josie, Tyler. He is also survived by two sisters, Josephine (Tom) Martin and Janet (Dennis) Randolph, both of Marietta; son-in-law, Jim Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, David Holly Kaneff; daughter, Sandy Green; grandson, Darrin Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday (March 6) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Witmer III officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
