A groundbreaking ceremony for the Smart Home being built for local wounded soldier Kyle Hockenberry will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at 3365 Bells Run Road, Newport. It's suggested that those who attend wear boots.
Ukrainian egg decorating with Anna Vukovic will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. March 23 at the Riverside Artists Gallery, 219 Second St. Marietta. The cost is $40 and each participant will enjoy snacks and a drink as they decorate eggs in this centuries-old Ukranian tradition. Fort Frye variety show March 22
Fort Frye High School Student Council will host its annual variety show at 7 p.m. March 22 in the Fort Frye High School auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.
Parenting workshop Wednesday at MHS
Marietta City Schools is partnering with the Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio to hold a free parenting workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Marietta High School auditorium. Topics will include how to get your parental power back, set age-appropriate limits and help your child deal with divorce in the healthiest way possible. Presenter Norman Shub has worked around the world and is known as a master teacher. Those in attendance will be placed in a drawing to win assorted door prizes. Child care and refreshments will be provided.
Health fair Saturday in Noble County
The fifth annual Health Fair will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Noble County Community Center. Marietta Memorial Hospital will provide blood screenings, with costs ranging from $12 to $35. Those interested in screenings should fast for 12 hours and call 568-5232 before the event. Also offered at the fair will be blood sugar screenings, blood pressure readings, BMI screenings, pulse oximetry readings, identity theft information, reflexology screenings, nutrition education, lung function screening, chair massages, a brown bag event (bring medications for pharmacist evaluation). A continental breakfast will be provided.
