Lois D. Murphy, 81, of Sardis, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday (March 15, 2013) after a prolonged illness.
She was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Sardis, and was the daughter of Darrell W. and Frances D. Jackson.
She was a proud graduate of Sardis High School, where she was salutatorian of her senior class. She was an employee of Consolidated Aluminum Corporation in Hannibal from 1966 until her retirement in 1991. Lois enjoyed her kitties, rose and flower gardening and crocheting. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jackie Potts.
She is survived by her husband, Sam; her children, Jackie Thompson of Kekaha, Hawaii, Pam Horn and Charlene (Paul) Coira, both of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters, Janet Isaly of Sardis, and Darlene (Tom) Boston of New Matamoras; and two brothers, Darrell (Ruth Ann) Jackson and Ronald (Phyllis) Jackson, both of Sardis; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today (March 18) from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, where funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday (March 19) at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
