I offer a big "thank you" to Peoples Bank for their generous gift to the Colony revitalization project but does the new name have to be Peoples Bank Theatre? Frankly, that name sounds very commercial and rather crass - reminiscent of a sports arena. Including the word "bank" is unnecessary and redundant. Everyone, even I as a new resident of Marietta, knows Peoples is a banking institution.
I encourage the officers of Peoples Bank to reconsider their choice of name and strongly suggest Peoples Colony Theatre.
I look forward to attending many events in this historic theatre, after its anticipated grand opening in 2014, with a marquis that reads Peoples Colony Theatre.
