Thomas F. Gildow, 64, of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Macksburg, Ohio, passed away Wednesday (March 20, 2013) at The Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 31, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Wilma "Kim" Hayes Gildow.
Tom was a 1967 Graduate of Caldwell High School and went on to serve and protect his nation in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW Post #5108 in Marietta and the American Legion Post #11 in Lancaster.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers: Charles, John, Dick, Bill and Bobby Shilling; two sisters, Virginia and Mary Ann Gildow; and a daughter-in-law Angela Gildow.
He was loved and will be missed by his family; son, Thomas F. Gildow II of Lancaster; grandson, Justin Gildow of Lancaster; two brothers Jim (Marilyn) Gildow of Macksburg and Wayne (Martha) Shilling of Whipple, Ohio; one sister, Janet (Pat) Stover of Waterford, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received Sunday (March 24) from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West St., Caldwell, Ohio 43724. A funeral service will be held Monday (March 25) at 10 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Cremation will follow, with the inurnment held at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg, at a later date.
