Alfred H. Blizzard, 82, of Belpre, died at the Camden Clark Medical Center, on Saturday (March 23, 2013).
He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on Sept. 16, 1930, and was the son of the late Mary Blizzard Gamble. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served 1949 to 1950 and 1951 to 1952 and retired from the reserves in 1960. He served at Edwards Air Force Base with some of the greatest in history. In 1954 he married Helen (Vicki) Phillips in Detroit, Michigan who preceded him in death in 2004. He was a founding member of the Viking Fabrications of Marietta in 1962 and served as vice president, general manager and senior estimator over the years until his retirement. He enjoyed working with flowers, shrubbery, collecting bricks, old tools, watching NASCAR, other sports. He enjoyed all forms of Wildlife and nature and loved his family dearly.
Survivors include his four children, Lynne (Mike) McGuire, Rick (Mikki) Blizzard, Renee Clegg, and Robby (Dee) Blizzard, all of the Belpre area; four grandchildren, Shayne (Carry) Wilson, Belpre, Rhiannon Blizzard, Belpre, Katy Clegg, Washington State, and Kyle Blizzard, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his wife.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery in Belpre. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
