Volunteers worked hard in Oak Grove Cemetery

March 28, 2013
The Marietta Times

This past Saturday, March 23, 17 Marietta residents and 30 Marietta College students joined together to help clean up Oak Grove Cemetery and try to alleviate some of the causes of land slippage in the cemetery. While some cleaned the mausoleum, others dragged downed limbs to the roadway edges, raked leaves and shoveled mud from drainage ditches to allow rainwater to be contained. Don Schafer made many trips hauling leaves from the cemetery to Wooster Street, where the leaves were dumped for easier pick up by city crews. I felt some responsibility to help because I have numerous relatives buried in this cemetery but most everyone else worked for the betterment of our community and I admire, appreciate and thank them.
