Eileen Jewel Maienknecht, 79, of Sardis, passed away Tuesday (March 26, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., as the result of an automobile accident. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Sims) Thompson.
Eileen was born on June 25, 1933, in Sardis, where she remained a lifelong resident. She married the love of her life on March 8, 1953. She and Norman were together for over 59 years until his passing on April 2, 2012 as the result of a tractor accident. They were the owners of Westbank Harbor Services, Inc. and River's Edge Campground.
In addition to Norman and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Norman Terry Maienknecht; a sister, Libby Eakins, four brothers, Cotton, Neville (Jiggs), Bill, and Nile (Pete) Thompson; and a half-brother, Chris Eubanks.
She leaves behind two daughters, Kim (Kevin) Weddle of Sardis and Kathy (Dennis) Dye of Fortson, Ga.; three grandsons, Isaiah and James (Greer) Dye and Blake Devier. a brother-in-law, Stanley (Theresa) Maienknecht of Antioch, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Evangelist David Lively officiating. Interment to follow in Sardis Cemetery, Sardis, Ohio.
