As both chambers of Congress talk about their budgets before April 15, I wanted to applaud our congressman, Bill Johnson, on being a leader on this issue.
Congressman Johnson, last year, sponsored legislation called, "The No Budget, No Pay Act," which said if a chamber of Congress didn't pass a budget by April 15, the members of that chamber did not receive a paycheck. Every family in our area has to pass a family budget ... why wouldn't the United States Congress? Just last month a similar bill was passed which means now the Senate, who hasn't passed a budget in nearly four years, will have to finally pass one or they won't get paid. These common sense ideas too often are lacking in Washington and I am honored that our congressman is fighting for us. I am proud to be a supporter of Johnson and am impressed by the impact he is making being a leader for our region.
