Fort Frye board to meet Thursday
There will be a special meeting of the Fort Frye Local school district Board of Education at 6 p.m. Thursday at Beverly-Center Elementary School, to discuss personnel. The meeting will include an executive session.
Mother's Day dinner at Fearing Twp. VFD
The annual Mother's Day dinner will be held Sunday at the Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department, 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. The meals will be baked steak or chicken dinner and include mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, a choice of pie or cake and tea or coffee. Serving starts at 11 a.m.
Area residents interested in learning about the MOV'n Dragons team are invited to a new member orientation from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marietta College Boathouse. Both competitive and recreational teams are available in order to accommodate paddlers of all ages and fitness levels. The team is made up of cancer survivors and supporters. The orientation will cover the basics of paddling, safety information, conditioning and general team policies. Those attending will have an opportunity to paddle on the Muskingum River and visit with current members.
Free meal Thursday at Tunnel church
Tunnel United Methodist Church will host a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. This month's menu will include various chicken, beef and ham casseroles, with pie for dessert. The meal is free, but donations are accepted, and all are welcome for the meal and community fellowship. Tunnel Church is located on Ohio 550, four miles west of Marietta. Sternwheel Festival 5K run, walk May 25
The Ohio River Sternwheel Festival will host its fourth annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival 5K Run and Walk May 25, in East Muskingum Park in Marietta. The race will start at 8 a.m. The preregistration fee is $12 and must be postmarked by May 17. After May 17, the fee will be $15.
