Judith A. Deem, 71, of Marietta, passed away Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 20, 1941, in Marietta, to Walter and Lucille (Davis) Neader. Judy was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary High School and after high school she graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School. Judy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was very active as a Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and a volunteer on many service projects. She was also very active with the American Red Cross.
On Oct. 13, 1962, she married Donald "Don" Deem, who passed away Feb. 6, 2012.
Surviving are her children, Brian Deem (Nancy) of Charlotte, N.C., and Melissa Deem (Amitava Bhattacharjee) of Princeton, N.J. And grandchildren, Seth, Brad and Carly Deem, Shikha, Maya and Arun Bhattacharjee; and a sister, Alice Beardmore (Paul) of Marietta.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Deem; brothers, Thomas and Jerry Neader; and her stepmother, Ruth Steadman Neader.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday (May 18) at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Michael Campbell as celebrant. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
