Richard C. Harrison

Richard C. Harrison, 76, of McConnelsville, died at his residence at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday (June 5, 2013).

He was born in Rose Farm, Ohio, on Oct. 17, 1936, the son of the late Leo and Laverne Gladden Harrison. He was a graduate of Malta-McConnelsville High School, Class 1954. Richard was an Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. He was a Protestant by faith and a member of the American Legion Post 24 and the Eagles, both of McConnelsville. He had been a member of the Malta VFW, McConnelsville Jaycees, and the Gavin Power Plant Veterans of Cheshire, Ohio, where he was an operator for Ohio Power Company.

He survived by two sons, James D. Harrison of Temple, Texas, and Gary Harrison of Marietta; one daughter, Kimberly Anderson and husband, Van, of Waterford; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Kate Harrison of McConnelsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Carl Harrison.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (June 12) at Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with Evangelist Randy Baker officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Malta Cemetery.
