David Smith, 80, of Macksburg, Ohio, died Thursday (June 13, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1932, in Grantsville, W.Va, son of the late Hill and Clair Gainer Smith. He was a United States Army veteran, having served from 1951 to 1953, and he was employed as a truck driver. Mr. Smith attended the Macksburg United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed going to flea markets and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Louella (Peg) Travis Smith, whom he married May 15, 1954; one daughter, Janet Evans; one son, Mark (Karen) Smith; three sisters, Helen Stack, Joan (Don) Cunningham, and Phyllis Mincks; one brother, Gerald Smith; his grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Wriston, David Evans, Jeff (Lyric) Smith, and Kristy (Brian) Weaver; his great-grandchildren, Randy (Crystal) Evans and Kaleene Jett; one step-grandson, Cody Wriston; his great-great-grandchildren, Chandler Evans, and Zoey and Logan Evans; one nephew he visited daily, Jerry Stack; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mcvay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East St., Caldwell, where the funeral will be observed Monday (June 17) at 11 a.m. with Ken Perkins officiating.
